This is the journey that answers the question: “If I have only one trip to Morocco, what should I see?” Ten days, one private vehicle, an expert local guide, and the entire country revealed in a single seamless route — from the Atlantic coast at Casablanca, through the royal cities of Rabat, Meknes, and Fes, into the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, across the Roman ruins of Volubilis, over the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, down to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in the Sahara, through the kasbahs of the south, and ending in Marrakech.

Most Grand Tours of Morocco follow this structure for a reason. Ten days is the length that allows depth without exhaustion — long enough to spend a real day in Fes and another in Marrakech, to overnight in the Sahara, to actually walk through Chefchaouen at dawn before the day trippers arrive. Shorter tours rush; longer tours risk becoming heavy. Ten days is the sweet spot.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Casablanca → Rabat

We meet you at Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, the afternoon may include a guided visit of the Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world, partially built over the Atlantic Ocean, and one of the few in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors.

In the late afternoon, a drive along the Atlantic coast brings you to Rabat — Morocco's political capital and royal seat — where you check into your hotel. Dinner is at leisure, with trusted restaurant recommendations for your first night in Morocco.

Day 02 :

Rabat → Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we explore Rabat's royal monuments: the Hassan Tower and unfinished mosque, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah of the Udayas (a 12th-century Almohad fortress overlooking the river and the Atlantic), and the Chellah — a beautiful Roman-Islamic ruin and garden.

After lunch in Rabat, you drive north into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. The first view is unforgettable — a blue-painted town rising up the mountainside, with the dramatic peaks of the Rif behind it. You check into a traditional riad in the medina, with a short evening walk through the alleys once the day trippers have left and the streets are quietest.

Day 03 :

Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes

We make the most of the early morning — the best time to photograph the blue alleys before the day trippers arrive — with a walking tour through the main square Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the Kasbah, and the photogenic blue streets.

You then drive south through the Rif Mountains and into the green Saïs plains to Volubilis — Morocco's largest Roman archaeological site, founded around 25 AD under King Juba II. We walk through the ancient Decumanus Maximus, see the remarkable in-situ mosaics, and explore the temples and basilica, surrounded by olive groves with the Middle Atlas in the distance. Lunch is in Volubilis or nearby Moulay Idriss.

A short drive brings you to Meknes — built by 17th-century sultan Moulay Ismail — where we visit Bab Mansour, considered one of the most beautiful gates in North Africa, and the royal granaries and stables (Heri es-Souani). A final short drive brings you to Fes, where you check into a traditional riad in or near the old medina with welcome mint tea.

Day 04 :

Full Day in Fes

The day begins with breakfast on the rooftop of your riad.

We start at the Borj Sud or Borj Nord — fortified hilltop viewpoints overlooking the entire medina. Then we enter Fes el-Bali, the UNESCO medieval medina, founded in the 9th century. Key stops:

Bab Boujloud — the "Blue Gate"
The Medersa Bou Inania — a 14th-century Quranic school
The Karaouine Mosque & University — founded in 859 AD, considered the oldest continuously operating university in the world
The Nejjarine Square and Fondouk (wood museum)
The Chouara Tanneries — the iconic dyeing pits, viewed from a leather shop terrace

Lunch is in a traditional riad — pastilla, tagine, and Moroccan pastries.

In the afternoon, we visit traditional craft workshops — ceramics (the famous Fes blue), brass and copper, weaving, and leather — followed by free time or continued exploration of the quieter quarters.

Day 05 :

Fes → Middle Atlas → Midelt → Erfoud

After breakfast, you begin the journey south to the Sahara — one of the most scenic drives in Morocco.

We stop in Ifrane — a clean, Alpine-style mountain town with European-pitched roofs and pine-lined streets that surprises most visitors — for a coffee break and a short walk. Just beyond, you enter the Azrou cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, one of the largest in North Africa and home to wild Barbary macaques, stopping briefly to view them in their natural habitat.

Lunch is in Midelt — known as the "apple capital" of Morocco — the midway point between the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas. You then follow the Ziz Valley, a long green oasis with thousands of date palms lining the river, where the panoramic viewpoint above the valley is one of the most photographed scenes in southern Morocco. You arrive in Erfoud — the historic gateway to the Sahara, famous for its fossils — for dinner and overnight.

Day 06 :

Erfoud → Merzouga (Sahara)

A slow morning — there's no need to rush today. Erfoud is one of the world's richest sources of marine fossils, dating back hundreds of millions of years when the region was an ocean floor, and there's the option to visit a fossil workshop to see how ancient fossils are extracted and polished.

A short drive then brings you to Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Lunch is at a kasbah-style restaurant near the dunes, and the afternoon is yours — rest, swim at the kasbah pool (in season), or read on a terrace overlooking the sand. For travelers who want to see more, there's an optional 4x4 excursion to the Gnaoua village of Khamlia (for traditional Gnaoua music) and a Berber nomad family.

At the edge of the dunes, you meet your camels and Berber guide for the camel trek into Erg Chebbi as the sun sets and the sand changes color. You arrive at the desert camp, welcomed with mint tea, with time to settle in and climb a dune for the last light. Dinner is a traditional Moroccan meal with Berber music around the campfire and stargazing.

Day 07 :

Sahara → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

There's the option to climb a high dune above the camp at dawn for the sunrise — one of the most memorable moments of the trip. After breakfast at the camp and the camel trek back, you set off west through Rissani — the historic caravan town and cradle of the current Moroccan royal dynasty — then continue to Tinerhir.

You reach Todra Gorge, where 300-meter-high cliffs rise on both sides of a narrow valley with a small river running through it, and walk along the riverbed for about an hour. Lunch is at the gorge.

You then follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs — fortified mud-brick villages, palm groves, and old caravan stops, with the High Atlas always on the horizon — arriving in the Dades Valley in time for sunset, with a short walk near the "Monkey Fingers," distinctive eroded rock formations unique to this valley.

Day 08 :

Dades → Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech

After breakfast, we stop in Skoura — a 12th-century palm oasis with dozens of fortified kasbahs — to visit Kasbah Amridil, a beautifully restored 17th-century kasbah that appeared on the back of the old 50-dirham banknote. You then continue to Ouarzazate, Morocco's film capital, with a brief stop at Kasbah Taourirt — the former Glaoui residence — and an optional view of Atlas Studios.

We arrive at Aït Ben Haddou — declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1987 — where you cross the river, walk through the kasbah, and climb to the granary at the top. Your guide shows you the exact filming locations from Gladiator (gladiator school), Game of Thrones (Yunkai), Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and others. Lunch is at a restaurant on the opposite hillside, with the entire kasbah framed in front of you.

In the afternoon, you climb back over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), one of North Africa's highest paved roads, with the best light for photography. You arrive in Marrakech in the early evening and check into your riad or hotel in the medina. Dinner is at leisure.

Day 09 :

Full Day in Marrakech

After breakfast, the day is designed to explore Marrakech unhurried.

We begin at the Bahia Palace — a 19th-century masterpiece of Moroccan-Andalusian architecture, with painted ceilings, courtyards, and zellige tilework. A short walk brings you to the Saadian Tombs, the 16th-century royal mausoleum rediscovered in 1917, and the iconic Koutoubia, Marrakech's great 12th-century mosque whose minaret inspired similar towers from Rabat to Seville.

Lunch is in a riad restaurant. The afternoon is for the souks — the artisan quarters of copper, dyers, leather, slippers, lanterns, spices, and woven goods. As the day ends, we reach Jemaa el-Fnaa, the legendary main square listed by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, watched from a rooftop terrace as the food stalls open and musicians arrive. To mark the end of your journey, we can arrange a special farewell dinner.

Day 10 :

Marrakech & Departure

Depending on your departure time, the final morning may include:

A visit to the Majorelle Garden and Yves Saint Laurent Museum
Free time for last shopping in the medina
A traditional hammam and spa experience
A simple slow morning at the riad

When it's time, we transfer you to Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) for your departure.
